On to 3rd and Unpredictable…

Week 6, as has become the norm for the Horsemen, was a very dark one – they were humiliated by division rival Drunken Aces in what was the 2nd worse loss in franchise history and the worst since week 10 of 2013. It was a swath of mediocrity from the top to the bottom aside from a surprise return to form by Lamar Miller – and this, paired with season highs from each of the Aces’ starting running backs (Jonathan Stewart, Chris Ivory and Demarco Murray), proved to be insurmountable for the ailing Horsemen.

So, the Horsemen are on to 3rd and Unpredictable. In 5 meetings against Unpredictable, no team has ever won multiple games in a row. Their worst defeat was in week 10 of 2013 by 67 points… but their greatest victory was also against 3&U by 64 in week 5 of 2012. In the history of the #dadpack rivalry overall scoring has been nearly even at 100.4 to 100.0 and the series is tied 2-2-1, their last battle a tie in week 10 of 2014 led by a miracle comeback performance (31 points) by the Eagle D/ST of the Horsemen to tie it up on Monday night.

The 4-2 Horsemen are looking to get back in rhythm against the lowest scoring team of 2015 thus far. 3rd and Unpredictable averages 75 PPG (compared to the 111 PPG by the Horsemen) and have won 3 games behind performances of 73, 69 and 78 points. Not helpful for Unpredictable is the loss of Alshon Jeffery, Marvin Jones and franchise QB Peyton Manning to bye weeks – as well as an injury to Marcus Mariota last week. They are now anchored by stud kicker, Gostkowski, and weekly fill-in QB Matt Stafford.

The Horsemen are early 22 point favorites behind a soft front of under performing wide receivers (Julio Jones, Antonio Brown and Julian Edelman) . Julius Thomas comes into replace the #2 TE Tyler Eifert who is on bye – and gives Horsemen faithful a good reason to wake up at 730 in the morning to watch football. Frank Gore and John Brown are still in consideration to take on a start this week depending on the QB situation in Pittsburgh.

The Horsemen do not have a winning record in any remaining week of the season other than 12.
