3rd and Unpredictable upset; Horsemen lose second straight

In a week where the Horsemen were hoping to turn things around and regain momentum heading into the second half of the season, everything went wrong. 3rd and Unpredictable was coming into this one last in the league in scoring at 75 PPG without ever having scored over 100… they’d never even scored over 90… they’d only scored over 80 one time back in week 2.

I guess something had to give.PA7

They released a scoring explosion, outscoring their average output by 50 – while the Horsemen trotted along only scoring 108. TY Hilton became the focal point of the 3&U offense once the Colts went down by 4 touchdowns, putting up gaudy numbers to end the game.  A strong performance by fill-in QB, Matthew Stafford, and waiver acquisition of the week, Stefon Diggs, were simply too much to overcome as the Horsemen lost 125 to 108.

Julius Thomas was released shortly after his zero point performance. Alfred Morris, franchise leader in starts, was also (with a heavy heart) released to make room for T.J. Yeldon coming off of IR. Matt Ryan’s safety as the squad’s starting quarterback has come into question with Tannehill’s 35 point bench performance – one that would have given the Horsemen the win.

The Horsemen lead the league in points against per game at 106.86 – on pace to set a new all-time record.

The competition doesn’t get any easier in week 8. The Electric Horsemen take on Strictly Southern in a battle of 4-3 teams both in the top 4 in scoring (the Horsemen at #2 still average in excess of 12 points more per game).

Strictly Southern features the #2QB in Philip Rivers, the #2RB in Mark Ingram, as well as DeAndre Hopkins – who is tied with Julio Jones atop all wide receivers. They have scored over 100 points in their 3 consecutive wins after being completely embarrassed in week 4 scoring only 65 points and going to 1-3. The potential return of Dez Bryant could be a game changer, but there is no confirmation as to whether he would be full strength yet.

The Horsemen are 1-3 all-time against Strictly Southern – with SS averaging a league best 107.75 in their contests. Their only win was in week 7 of 2013 by 1 point (96-95) led by Matt Ryan’s 28. No other starters from that game are still on the roster.

Eifert comes off bye and Antonio Brown welcomes Ben Roethlisberger with open arms. With their help, the Horsemen hope to avenge their worst loss of the 2014 campaign, an 87-117 trouncing, this week.
