Horsemen trample Aces; begin ride through the gutter

In the first of what looks to be a five game run of teams with only one win on the season the Horsemen, led by another top 5 all time performance by Ben Roethlisberger, ran over the hapless Drunken Aces 95-70.

It wasn’t that the Horsemen performed particularly well… Lamar, 2. Julio, 2. Edelman, 3. It’s just that the opposition was so horrible that a mediocre performance was more than enough.

It’s probably not even worth talking about.

Week 6 is a big one.

In the four years of the Cosmopolitan Outlaw League, the Horsemen have never won week 6. Their 0-4 record is paired with an average margin of loss of 19.5 points and they’ve only scored over 100 once. Considering they’re averaging only 94 PPG on the year (well below their franchise average 109.8 in the first 6 weeks), it wouldn’t be surprising to see the lack of 100 point games continue.

But lose to the 1-4 Extreme Baby Throwers? Can that really be fate? The weeks sched1ahead look promising on paper, but this week could set the tone for how the Horsemen are going to follow through against a rash of lesser opponents.  The Horsemen hold a winning record of below 50% in each week from 6 through 9… but never before have they seen such a seemingly easy schedule laid before them.

The misfortune in week 6 historically could be offset by the success the Horsemen have seen against the Baby Throwers. Once a great and powerful champion… they’re just about as embarrassing as the Drunken Aces – another former champion. The average margin of victory in the series is 21.78 – 109.56 PF to 87.78 PA. In their most recent contest in week 9 of last year, the Horsemen won 183-90.

A win here would likely put the Horsemen 2 games away from clinching a playoff spot with 7 games remaining. The line after the Friday games sits at 31 and the Horsemen have an 83.3% of victory from ESPN Insider.

The march to the playoffs begins here… for a couple teams. A few others are trying to avoid joining the 2013 Drunken Aces and 2013 Straight Laced (formerly Dead Last) for the worst start through 6 weeks at 1-5. Only one 1-4 in history has ever made the playoffs, the 2015 Nosebleeds. This doesn’t look like the year for it to happen again.
