The Dynasty of the Horsemen continues

Week 15 would go a way not unlike many Week 15s in the history of the Cosmopolitan Outlaw League.

Just like week 15 of 2015 and 2016, it would begin with nine teams silently rooting for the failure of the Electric Horsemen. But each of these nine teams would know in their hearts that this year would end up like the others. They would not see a new champion crowned in this week of 2017, the crown would remain in the hands of the defending champions.

As Strictly Southern stormed out of the home of the Horsemen before the official conclusion, it was apparent that it was time to order another ring. It was also apparent that the Jimmy Graham figurine truly was cursed.

The first back to back champions would become the first to three-peat… will the domination end in this century?

It would also be the highest scoring championship game in league history (221)… and the biggest blowout (35).

The Horsemen would finish the postseason with 1666 total points, good for a 111.1 average and 3rd best in league history. This would be also be the greatest postseason performance in league history with an average of 125.5 PPG and a margin of 39.5 PPG. For perspective, the 2015 and 2016 champion Horsemen averaged 108.5/21.5 and 103.0/32.0 respectively.

Adjusted for the era, the Horsemen had the number one adjusted scoring regular season in history – scoring 12.3% of the total points for the year. This beat out the prior record of 12.2% set by the storied 2013 3rd and Unpredictable. Despite the low scoring nature of the 2017 season, Closet Hillbilly and Legs With Holes would set records for worst adjusted scoring season and worst overall scoring seasons ever. They would also be the only teams in history to score less than 1,000 regular season points.

After being one of the worst teams ever with a reputation for making ridiculous trade offers, Closet Hillbilly would go on to release one of the top ranked defenses for week 15 – potentially tarnishing the championship game… or worse… the Asshammer (reminiscent of his attempts to sully the championship game in 2016). Despite it not affecting the big game, the Horsemen would vow to never again entertain a trade with Closet Hillbilly.

And so… one more year has come and gone… and one less finger will be available to put a ring on.

The first true Cosmopolitan Outlaw League dynasty has only begun.

And, oh yeah, the Drunken Aces would steal the Asshammer from the firm grip of Legs With Holes who would have their 2nd 100+ game of the season – and their first since week 7.
