Horsemen reign in fear of collapse, eradicate XBT

The Horsemen were desperately seeking some semblance of momentum going into the playoff push and the low-scoring Extreme Baby Throwers seemed like the perfect opponent to that end.

It was nasty. The Extreme Baby Throwers were left in a blazing heap of nothingness on the barroom floor, taser marks across their chest and self-respect nowhere to be found.PF-PA

The 93 point loss wasn’t even their worst loss of the season (they lost by 98 to the Nosebleeds in week 3), but the 183 points given up to the Horsemen was the most points in league history. The 90 points scored was even their 3rd best outing of the year and 5 points over their season average… they’re just THAT bad.

The Eifert explosion on Thursday night was a strong start – but he ended up the 5th highest starter for the week after his 3 touchdown showing. A coin toss Sunday at 1145 determined Carr over Ryan… and Carr put up the best regular season quarterback performance (34) by a Horseman since JOSH FREEMAN‘s 35 points in week 7 of 2012.

Antonio Brown then decided to put up his best performance as a Horseman with 28. Lamar Miller? He chipped in another 25. Then DeAngelo Williams, fill in for LeVeon Bell, put up the best all-time franchise game for a running back with 36.

Even with the barrage of scoring, the Electric Horsemen still didn’t have their optimal lineup in – as Frank Gore wasted away on the bench with 15 points.

After the 183-90 victory, the Horsemen lead the league in scoring and are on pace to break the scoring record set by 3rd & Unpredictable in 2013 as they bring their average to 119.3.

Week 10 isn’t any less important, as the Horsemen are still struggling to solidify their spot in the playoffs in a tight battle for the division. Only half a game separates the Horsemen and Nosebleeds with 4 games left – setting up what could be a season finale for the rivalry trophy and the division title.

Up next, the Horsemen (5-3-1) take on Straight Laced (4-5) (formerly Dead Last) for the first time since the teamWL re-branding effort that was expected to pull them out of the league basement. They’re sort of out of the basement – but not convincingly so. Only the Baby Throwers and 3rd & Unpredictable score less points than Straight Laced (88.1 PF/G) and thanks to playing the two worst teams in their division back to back they’re a game up on the last place teams.

Week 10 is historically the low point of the Horsemen season, as they average only 84.67 PPG before a season-ending rally. The 1-1-1 all-time week 10 record doesn’t lean convincingly in any direction, nor does the 1-2 franchise record against Dead Last.

The Horsemen will be without the #4 scorer in franchise history, Julio Jones, and Straight Laced will be without any dependable players aside from Todd Gurley.

Surprisingly, Vegas has the home team Horsemen a 3 point underdog early in the week.
