Horsemen embarrassed with worst performance in 3 years

The Horsemen scored only 65 points in week 11 of 2015 – this was 2 points more than their all time low, week 11 of 2012. It was embarrassing. Derek Carr regressed to awful, Tavon Austin was traded immediately after his terrible game, and only two players (Julio Jones & Tyler Eifert) could show up with double digits. Matt Ryan and John Brown, benched for poor performances and inconsistency, could have sealed the win and a playoff berth had they been active.

It wasn’t even that the Closet Hillbilly played particularly well. They got their regular 85 (47% of which came from Cam Newton) points. It was plenty to win in a nasty week of football. Let’s close the book on week 11 forever.

CH-WES over

The Horsemen (6-4-1) still have plenty to play for in week 12. With their loss and Nosebleed win over first place Bumpy’s Berries, they have relinquished their lead in the division race for the first time all season. Now trailing by half a game for the division and needing one more win to clinch a spot in the playoffs, it’s do or die time.

At 3-2 at home, the Horsemen haven’t had the the home field advantage they did in the 2012-2013 seasons and look to get that going again. Unfortunately, this week they come across a foe that they have never beaten in the history of the franchise – Legs With Holes (4-6-1). Their 87.67 APF against LWH is the lowest among all opponents and their average margin of defeat has been 11.33. Their most recent loss came in week 6 of 2014 110-106.

Year Week Wes Score O Score
2012 6 72 80
2013 6 85 107
2014 6 106 110

Coming into this week, the Horsemen released the #8 leading scorer in franchise history, Justin Tucker, as his injured offense brings to question their ability to move the ball. They bring in Cardinals kicker Chandler Catanzaro to pair him up with his D/ST in the coming weeks. At this point in the season at 4-6-1, Legs With Holes has more or less mailed it in. In some questionable moves, they’ve liquidated two of their previous years’ keepers including Randall Cobb and LeSean McCoy at pennies on the dollar, but have just enough depth left to sufficiently compete for the next couple weeks.

Ben Roethlisberger also appears slated to make his first start for the Horsemen alongside Antonio Brown and DeAngelo Williams against the vaunted Seahawks defense. The Horsemen 6 point favorites at home.
